About RFC Basel
The Basel Rugby Club was founded in 1975 by a group of mostly English speaking players. In Switzerland rugby was practically unheard of at that time.
Since those primeval days RFC Basel has gone from strength to strength, recruiting players from all over the world : Australia, Canada, USA, France, England Scotland, Wales, Ireland and Argentina.
Due to the steady influx of young players the Basel Rugby Club is probably the richest club in terms of potential. Many of our players have already played for the North Swiss Selection Team, and the Swiss National Team.
Although the Basel Rugby Club has become one of Switzerland’s most advanced training centers for young players, we do not neglect those who are somewhat longer in the tooth; with twice weekly training sessions for the senior teams and matches nearly every weekend during the season. On the off-season we train 1-2 times a week.
